Austin Healey Sprite MK1

Border Reivers are delighted to offer this fully restored Austin Healey Sprite Mk 1 perhaps better know as the Frogeye or Bugeye.

People often ask how we find the cars we sell, well sometimes they find us & this was the case with the little Healey. We got an email from a sad woman who was looking for a good home for her little car, I followed it up with a phone call and got the full story We just had to buy it. Purchased new by the Lady in 1960 & used as it should be for the next 17 years in all weathers. One day it came to getting a new mot (1977) it failed on the front trunnions. The car was (temporally) driven into the garage at home. A family came along & no urgent use for found for the little car so it remained with the family for 4 house moves some without garaging & it was put into storage, one day they worked out what it had cost to put it in storage & transportation & it was something like £18k !!!

We purchased the sad looking car which hadn’t been back on the road since that day in 1977. Our intention was finding it a good home however we found ourselves putting it into the workshop & well you can see the results. I registered it in my name 01-09-2013 as the 2nd owner but never quite got around to getting it finished off. My brother who’s anal about details finished it off & as a result we have the car thats in front of you.

We really are delighted to have saved it & to have it once again to sell.

It comes with its original Jack & wheel brace, sales brochures, tuning hand books, history file, car cover, new side screens, side screen bag, spare keys,British motor industry Heritage Certificate.

Very well priced, we couldn’t charge the hours involved in the preservation process. Someone will get a bargain. Find a better one.
